Math and Science Updates!

Math Update
Thank you to all the students and parents
who have reached out to me regarding the
math work.  I am so proud to hear how hard
students are working on their packets, online,
or in dreambox! Way to go 3L and 3M!  As I
always say, both classes are filled with my
smart cookies!

We have been informed that there will be
no MCAS this year.  Hopefully this relieves
some stress for students and families.
Furthermore, we used new benchmark testing
system this year. This new system had a much
faster pace than previous years.  Due to this
faster pacing, we have covered all of the third
grade math curriculum before the school was closed
Please note, we went through the content quickly,
but all of the third grade math standards were
covered in class already.  The plans for the rest of
the year in math class included reteaching the
standards we have already covered.

I am working with the math department to provide
supports through google classroom for students
to be able to complete their math continued learning
packets.  Please do not hesitate to reach out
to me on remind or email at
LDLawrence@fallriverschools.org for any help with
the math!

Science Update
The science continued learning packets
can be found at the continued learning site:
As mentioned before, these are great activities to do
as families and keep students engaged.

Hello 3L and 3M families!  We got creative and made this chalk art the other day!  When we pulled the tape off, I said, "Wow, look at all those polygons"!  They are all straight line sides and they are all closed shapes!

Hello 3L and 3M families!  You know how much Mrs. Lawrence loves lavender and purple...we planted lavender sprouts two weeks ago and they are starting to sprout!  Wanted to share this picture with you!

Welcome!

Welcome to our new continuity of learning blog! We realize there has been a lot of information sent out and thought this would be a great way to allow access to resources all from one place. At the top left corner, there is a google translate option that will translate the entire website to your home language! 😃

While we will be communicating via Remind/Email, supporting your child’s academic progress by adding support for their continuity of learning packets via Google Classroom, and engaging virtually with our students via Flipgrid, you may find using this blog daily to access all of the different resources we have posted helpful. All links are available on one page through the blog.

These are challenging times for all and we hope that our students are staying positive and healthy.  Please put your child’s mental well-being as the top priority.  Simple enrichment activities like spending time together, playing a game together, making something, talking to each other; are ways to keep their minds engaged and feel reassured.  Continued learning can include:

reading, puzzles, drawing, writing, cooking/baking,chores, play outside, arts and crafts, music or dancing, online learning games, school packets

To access online learning tools, please use the links to the left of the screen to help you! On the right of the screen, you will see specific messages for each class.

What do you really need to know?
We value the time you are taking to support and continue your child's learning at home. The continuity of learning packets that were distributed and are available online and at the school are encouraged to be worked on at home, to the best of your child's ability. The grading process for these packets is to be determined. Most importantly, we want our students to continue learning at some capacity EVERYDAY. Please keep a log of your students work, as it may be needed to show the extent of their learning during our time away from school.

*MCAS has been cancelled this year. Please let the kids know that it is still very important for them to continue growing their brains to get ready for the remainder of the year, fourth grade and their future!

Happy learning! Ms. Meyer and Mrs. Lawrence will be available to you throughout regular school day hours (7:30am-3:30pm) Monday through Friday via email or the Remind app to the best of our ability. As always, please reach out with any questions!

Thank you,
Ms. Meyer & Mrs. Lawrence
